Main Programs

Just For Kicks Soccer has several programs...

Outdoor Season
The outdoor season generally runs from May to September.  Youth players choose which location program they want to play at and which skill level they prefer.  Beginner and novice players must join one of the Recreation House Leagues.  Experienced players have a choice of Recreational or XP All-Star Leagues (All-Star may be recommended depending on the skill level of the player). Players can also choose to join the Inter-Club Scarborough League or the Girls GOt Game (G3) League.  Try-outs are also available for tournament teams, rep teams and academy teams through affiliate organizations (ask JFK for details).

General Program Descriptions:

Youths - 4 to 14 years old (in the calendar year of the program).
Just For Kicks (JFK) Recreational House League:  This program is for families that want the least amount of traveling and commitment  All games are in Scarborough in an area close to the family's home.  There is generally one game and one practice per week (on a week night).  The games are considered recreational with the emphasis on fun and learning.  Players practice and play as a team.  Standings are kept except in the U5 division and lower divisions.

Youths -  6 to 18 years old (in the calendar year of the program).
Scarborough Kicks XP All-Star House League:  This program is a little more competitive than the Just For Kicks Recreational House League.  Players entering this program usually have some soccer experience.  This program is divided into 2 categories.

XP All-Star House League for 6 to 14 years olds (in the calendar year of the program):
These are the years that children really learn how to play soccer.  By taking advantage of this, Just For Kicks Soccer has removed the "new" player with no skills in order to allow the experienced players to become more competitive and develop at a greater pace.  All-Star does not necessarily mean the player is "great".  Set in a fun environment of activities for learning, players develop skills quickly and learn the importance of team play.  Players in this age group or in many cases - parents,  want to have fun and be competitive to some degree without having to join a competitive rep team (in which rep teams travel as much as 100 kilometers for games).  All games are in Scarborough, but players may belong to different communities within Scarborough and play against these other communities.  There is one game (on a week night) and one practice per week.  Players from this program can also try-out for the All-Star/Select Team (if available) which play in occasional tournaments on the weekends against other clubs.  In addition to the regular games and practices, players are welcome to participate in development clinics designed to help progress the player at their own pace.  There is limited availability in this program.
XP All-Star House League for 15 to 18 years olds (in the calendar year of the program):
Soccer is a major part of the physical education program at all high schools.  These teens entering this program have most likely played soccer to some degree.  All-Star does not necessarily mean the player is "great".  At this age, it is usually the player that makes the decision to join as opposed to the "parental influence" in younger ages.  Players in this age group want to have fun and be competitive to some degree without having to join a competitive rep team (in which rep teams travel as much as 100 kilometers for games).  All games are in Scarborough, but players may belong to different communities within Scarborough and play against these other communities.  There is one game (on a week night) and one practice per week.  Players from this program can also try-out for the All-Star Plus Team which play in occasional tournaments on the weekends against other clubs.  In addition to the regular games and practices, players are welcome to participate in free development clinics designed to help progress the player at their own pace.  There is limited availability in this program.

Indoor - Visit the Indoor page for details on the indoor season AKA - the Igloo League.

More soccer programs and when they run:
Spring Fever Program (generally March to April)
Summer Camps (July & August)
Indoor Winter (Nov to March)
All programs have registration year round until full.
